Day didn't start so well unfortunately. Absolutely smashed my head on the bathroom cabinet and almost ended up with concussion (ok, so maybe a bit melodramatic but geez it hurt - had a headache for the next 4hrs)
Given we had no free parking for the day, decided to jump in the car and go for a drive (just for something different - don't know how Mitch isn't off us yet). Did a lap around Holyrood Park but most of it was closed for the day.
Of all the weeks to be in Edinburgh - the Queen is in! Apparently Wills in getting The Order of the Thistle on Thursday, so not only are we having to contend with road closures for the new tram lines (Judes is not coping at all!) but also diversions for the Royals...
Following 30mins of frustration at trying to find parking in the city, we met up with Bep, Ronnie, Sarah and Bob and got onto a city sightseeing bus. As it wasn't raining we sat up top and did a lap of the city to get our bearings - Mitch loved the wind in his hair. He had a ball!
After a picnic lunch looking up at the castle, Chris tried on his kilt for sat. Seems Ronnie and Chris are the only 2 in this Aussie crew who can take their measurements correctly (well done boys at cessnock, talk about multi-skilled, honeywell should be proud of you).
With wedding attire sorted, we dropped Bep and Ronnie back to their place (well Jules' sister's place) and continued on driving around the city, back home via the water (Mitch needed an hour to get some sleep).
In the evening, Ganey stayed home to look after Mitch whilst I met up with the others to go on a Double Dead tour (certainly not suitable for a 1yr old). We went into the city's underground vaults (archways under the bridge) to be scared out of our wits. The poor used to live and work down there but you were lucky to live for 18months given the disease and filth that existed there, was pretty gross really.
Then on to the cemetery to hear all about the tragic history of the Convenants and the Mackenzie ghost.
The others were all a bit freaked out but Bep and I were standing there laughing, discussing how much better we could have done it. Hmm, does anyone else find that concerning !?!
