Well, the start to my last week in Kyarusozi didn't exactly start off the way I had planned. On Monday I stayed home from school because I got sick in the middle of the night and I wasn't feeling well. I was really bummed to miss school, but I'm glad I stayed home because I felt much better after spending a day in bed.
Tuesday was a great day for all of us in Kyarusozi because Sister Edith finally came back!!!! I really missed her while she was gone, but she had to go to Saint Mary's to help Sister Mary get settled in. She told us about her trip and her visit to our school and it sounded like a nice visit. She was very excited to be home though and to spend more time with us before we leave.
On Wednesday, I did my last art project with my P1 class. I decided to do the Rainbow Fish activity with them because they had seen a bunch of the fish from the other classes hanging up in their rooms. I read the book to them first and they were so great. They listened to me the entire time and were able to answer some questions I asked them after reading the story. They had so much fun decorating their fish and they all turned out really good! I decided to hang up their fish on a string going across the classroom and it really added a lot to the room. Seeing my kids having so much fun reminded me of how sad I am to leave them....
Nora, Sarah and I all decided that we wanted the students at the school to have an all school assembly on Friday so we could tell everyone good bye and so the students could perform some of their favorite songs that they learned while we were here. There was a lot of work that went into preparing for our show. We had to rehearse the songs with the students and we had to cut out all of the pieces for their puppets, but I know the end result will be worth it. It was so much fun watching the kids make their puppets for the show. Our theme for our show was the jungle, and we had each class make a different kind of animal for their puppet. All of the puppets turned out great and I'm so excited for the students to use them tomorrow!
