As a fair warning, I'm not trying to sound like a "Debbie Downer" here, but I just thought I would share with you all a little bit about the biggest obstacle I've had to face since I've been in Uganda. No, it's not the food, the occasional cold shower, or the language barrier, instead it's actually been missing everyone back home. While this trip has been incredible so far, I'm not going to deny that being away from home has been very difficult for me. I honestly had no idea that I would miss home as much as I do. It's weird because I've been away at school for three years now and I've never really been like this. It might be because at school I can just pick up my phone and call home whenever I want to, and knowing that I can't do that here has been a very weird feeling. The past week or so has been much better for me though. I've finally gotten in a routine and I would say that I'm finally adjusted to life here. Not to mention that the six of us have gotten a lot closer and I feel a lot more comfortable around them now. Still, not a single day goes by that I don't think about my family and friends back home. I have learned a lot so far on this trip, but one of the biggest things I've learned is how much my family means to me and how much I love them.
