On Monday night after my 10-6 shift I did the musical theatre class lead by Suzan one of the Dance Captains and we started a routine to Oh My God from Legally Blonde. It was really fun to be doing a class and routine to something from my style of dance. We also got to really camp it up which was good :) When I looked at my phone after the class I had a text from Alaina saying that she'd gone home on the Eurostar for a week. She hurt her wrist really badly in a REP session and has had loads of problems getting it treated being told various different diagnoses so for her 2nd week off work she's gone home to visit family and friends and get her wrist treated by someone who speaks fluent English and can treat her for free on the NHS! So when I got back to the flat it was clean and tidy with a little packet of halloween Haribo on my pillow :D - Thanks Alaina!
On Tuesday I had an early Café Mickey (meaning 7am start!) and was given Goofy. I'd been him the day before and had a few problems because the head is sooo heavy and not really designed for a slimmer female neck so I was a bit disappointed to get him again. When we got to CM the first set went fine but there were some really pushy little spanish girls who kept coming up to me, and in the second set they got me to sign their books a second time (!) and then one of the girls pushed her hand into the mouth of the head pushing me back a bit. Then, the other girls started grabbing various bits like the nose and one got the left ear and yanked it really hard jerking my head down to the side. Luckily my ACC was raelly close by and told them not to before pulling me aside to ask if I was okay. The force and the shock of having my head jerked so suddenly really hurt my neck as well as it already aching so I told her (through mime) and she took me back out to the breakroom to rest. She called the Team Leader to tell them what had happened while I laid on one of the sofas and requested to change my costume. I missed the third set waiting for my new costume and went out for the rest of the day after that as Tigger! I quite enjoyed it because although Tigger bounces, the head is quite light and doesn't cause any shock impact on my neck. So the rest of the day went well, finishing at 3 with a visit to the supermarket for more food and things.
Yesterday I worked 10-6 doing the Sheriff in the morning (very exciting) and found out in the break room that I was doing the parade, and did Green Army again, playing the Chief. That parade went ALOT better than the first time I did chief which was good.
Today was possibly my BEST day since I started working here. I was working 10-6 again but when I went to Character 1, I was told I was doing 2 parades. This confused me because I'm not approved to do Evil Queen yet because I don't have my contact lenses, and that's the only thing I can do in the Stars 'n' Cars Parade. So I went to see a Dance Captain who told me I was opening and closing the doors for the cars to go through. So I went and got into my kit (joggers and hoody) and got some safety shoes from costuming. When I went back to watch the Mise en Place for the SnC the Dance Captain told me I was going to be the Evil Queen instead!
I quickly rehearsed the little show routine that the Queen does with Cruella and Gaston (who were actually in make-up so I practiced by myself) and then went to Cosmetology to get my make-up done. Because I don't have the contact lenses yet, I couldn't go out into the Park beforehand to do the Sets so I had plenty of time to get ready. After I was finished I went on a veeeeeerrry long lunch until about 1:30, got my make-up retouched and then got into costume and onto the bus to go to the cars. The Parade went really well with only a few minor mistakes which I realised at the time, so hopefully when I get to do it properly it will be much better. It was surprising how many people wanted Evil Queen's autograph and it was frustrating not to be able to go over to the guests.
After the parade when we got back to EPC, the sign-in sheets had already gone up and I was down to do EQ for the Disney's Once Upon a Dream Parade too! I got out of costume and went to the Mise en Place only to find out that I'd forgotten most of the movement for EQ :s But luckily a dance captain was there who refreshed for me and I was all set!
The DOUD parade was a lot of fun and I enjoyed it so much. A few children looked really frightened and plenty of adults looked very uncomfortable when I gave them my evil stare! :P A big group of children booed me as I went past which was quite cool as well. Luckily Tom (Jennings) was free to take photos of me so I was very grateful. I would've been really disappointed if I didn't have any to put up because it was such a big even for me! It's been a very exciting day but the combination of being nervous and excited all day has made me very tired!
I'm on spare parade tomorrow so will probably be either Sheriff or Tigger in Park 2 (as usual) and possibly Green Army afterwards. I've got Saturday and Sunday off for the next two weeks so I think on Saturday I'm going to go for a walk around Serris and the nearby area and see what there is and then maybe go to The Park on Sunday or stay in and clean the flat and do my washing etc.
I hope you've enjoyed this latest installment and I'll update you again on Sunday!
