Long Time No Blog! Apologies!
I had a really amazing weekend at home in the UK to celebrate my sister getting married! And I almost didn't make it home when expected because I left my suitcase in an office, only to find that when my shift finished it had been locked away!! I then had to wait 30 minutes for the manager (who was "10 minutes away" - yeah right!) to unlock it. I was really fraught about it but some incredibly kind people gave me a lift in their car to the station and I might it with about 3 minutes to spare! I didn't get home 'til midnight, but George was waiting for me at the station and took my suitcase to the car where mum and dad were eagerly awaiting my arrival.
The wedding day was both hectic and amazing! Dad woke me up to get me to arrange the flowers - A bouquet of white and dusky pink roses for Sarah, and the same roses with babies breath, freesias, and eucalyptus leaves for the bridesmaids :) Everyone helped sort out the flowers for me, stripping the leaves and thorns etc which saved me ALOT of time. :) I wrapped the bouquets in coordinating leftover material from the various dresses to recycle :D After doing that, I started to get ready myself, doing my hair and make-up with Rosie whilst Jeff the photographer took photos of everyone doing things. The run up to the service at 3 was so exciting I couldn't stop smiling :D
The service was beautiful, with many people getting emotional and/or crying (including me!) and I sang Israel Kamakawiwo'ole's Somewhere Over the Rainbow/Wonderful World and played guitar whilst the register was signed. I was so nervous and felt very under-practiced, but I got to the end with only a few mistakes! After the service we had photos taken in the little lane leading down to the church with the happy couples and all the guests and then we went to Ingleside House for the reception of canapés, mulled wine and also had more photos taken there.
At around 6:30 we went into the Barn Theatre hall where the tables had been laid out beautifully with flowers and tea light candles and napkins that had peoples names on them and also what food they were having. After the speeches (a very lovely and funny one from dad - father of the bride, a very funny and clever one from Adam - groom, and a funny and sweet one from Crust - the best man) we had the wedding dinner of Pie and Mash. The pies had been bought from the company Pie Minister, and everyone had ordered the one they wanted and everyone loved it! It was such a unique and good idea it went down a storm, and then had either chocolate fudge cake or fruit salad for dessert.
There was lots of dancing and karaoke afterwards and it's very safe to say that we celebrated in unique style for such a unique couple :D
On Sunday, George had a gig with hermes at the KOKO club in London. Originally I couldn't go because it was sold out, but George really kindly sorted out for me and his parents to go. So they took me and the gig was awesome! The club is a really popular venue for famous artists like Mark Ronson, Amy Winehouse, Dizzee Rascal and Radio 1 DJ's like Annie Mac. It's a renovated old theatre, The Camden Palace, and they took out the seats and have put in about 3 bars in the dress circle and it's all red and gold with a terrace for smokers. The gig went down really well and the audience really liked hermes, and there were some cool DJ's playing between sets. George's parents took George and me back to mine so that we could spend the whole weekend together and came with me on Monday to the station to say goodbye and he caught a train to Stonehouse. It was very emotional to be leaving him and my family AGAIN but, I've been there almost a month now and it feels like it's passed quickly so I've not got long left 'til I'm back really.
After nearly missing the train back to France (as you can tell, me and trains don't get on!!) I got back to my flat at about 9:30pm and was at work at 7am so I didn't stay up long once I was back. I ate at a small pub/restaurant at Lille Europe station during my hour long wait for the next train so I didn't need to eat when I got back.
Yesterday was quite good fun doing the morning shift at Café Mickey. I was originally given Goofy, but was changed to Tigger after deciding I was too short for Goofy. We had about 5 sets I think over the whole day and got lunch for free which was good. I also finished at 3 so I went to the supermarket to buy food. That evening, a girl a few doors along knocked to say she was leaving to go back home and was selling lots of things she didn't want, including a kettle for 5euros! So Alaina and I payed half each and the girl also threw in some bath mats too which was great as we'd been using one of my towels for a bath mat! So now we can have proper cups of tea, but our microwave is still rubbish for cooking because the time dial doesn't turn back so we don't know how long things have been in there for! Which is really inconvenient to say that least! The internet was totally on the fritz last night which is why I'm just updating now..
Today was an okay day.. I was given Tweedle Dee in Park 2, but couldn't find my Dum. When I did, he said he didn't want to do it and once I'd got on the bus to go there in my costume, I was told to go to Character 1 and change. I found out that the guy playing Dum refused to be that character which is a bit Diva-ish and it caused me loads of hassle! So I wasn't happy when I was given the Sheriff of Nottingham AGAIN! I really enjoyed Tigger yesterday and then to do Sheriff felt rubbish. But I only had to do it for the morning because everyone doing the set with me was in the Parade, and I was doing Green Army again (Which is Soldat Vert for Lottie who asked what it meant!) but because it's Halloween there aren't any show stops in the parade so it was SO tiring, but fun. And it was Cat from my formation's first parade which was cool.
When I finished work I went and got my hair trimmed at a cheap salon near Val d and it was difficult to explain what I wanted as the hairdresser didn't speak ANY English. But it's turned out okay. I just wanted it trimmed into more of a style so it can grow out nicer than it has been.
I've got my opticians appointment tomorrow to sort out my contact lenses for Evil Queen and Maleficent so hopefully they'll arrive soon and I can go out on Set for approval and then parade. I think those who are waiting to be approved will be so quickly in time for the last few weeks of Halloween and then for Christmas as well, so hopefully I'll get to do that lots once I'm approved.
Blog soon
