The hills are alive with the sound of... well, panting and gnashing of teeth. This morning neither of us were really in the mood, partly because of aching feet and partly because we know that we will be ending the day on an incline.
After a great coffee stop at Trabadelo we soon get back into the groove. I get talking to a Spanish guy who describes Mancini's work at City to building a 'mental hospital' which makes me chuckle.
We arrive at Hairy-arse (Herrerias) and begin the 10km climb to O Cerebrio. The scenery is stunning but the climb is brutal with sections of 20% gradient. Our plan was to stop at a German run albergue at La Faba which looks fantastic but we arrive just after midday and decide to crack on for another few kilometres.
Our stopping place is Laguna de Castilla. Whilst not as high as Foncebadon our starting altitude means that we have actually climbed further today. It's a really happening village: two farms and our albergue and tonight it all seems to go off !!
- the old lady with the stripy petticoat is herding a cow toward her barn which isn't hers. It's the udder farms...
- the owners wife kicks off with her husband about the mess outside the albergue. He says it's bullsh*t.
- during rush hour (see video) Aliette hurts her leg. I think it's a calf injury...
The most peaceful evening of the trip so far - blissful !
