I was right about Obelix. Snored like a hog. What I wasn't prepared for was the tunes coming out of the other ends of our fellow pilgrims. As I have a mental age of 5, I guess it should be expected that I was the only one giggling myself to sleep to what I can only describe as an anal rendition of the frog chorus.
We were up this morning at 5.30. I know...... 5.30am. After leaving Castrojeriz we had a 12% climb for over a kilometre. Any reserves I had built up over night were drained. What followed was 19km of shade-less rocky terrain.
Reached Boadilla del Camino feeling like the lower half of my body has been done over with a meat tenderiser. The Albergue here is lovely with nice gardens and a pool.
Getting up after lunch is a challenge and my impersonation of bambi on ice doesn't go unnoticed. I share a chocolate palmares with Aliette and a French guy to spur us on to Fromista. The Parisian takes a piece, "merci", Aliette takes a pieces and promptly falls on her arse. No alcohol was used to perform this stunt.
We arrive in Fromista just before 2. We check out an Albergue that has wifi, air conditioning and an evening meal for €15. Unfortunately what it doesn't say about Canal de Castilla is that it is built on platform 2 of Fromista train station. We head into town and check into a pension where we have the luxury of our own room. No frog chorus tonight (although I might be able to solo the Pipes of Peace).

Yanik Wish we could be there! Love the Obelix references! My Dad would love that! We are enjoying the trip with you (without the legwork...). Please keep writing and posting photos - we look forward to this journey with you! Lots of hugs, kisses and prayers. We love you! Mama, Yanik, Carlos, Manuela, Emilia & Nico
Jon Davy Sounds like it is going to plan. Worried about the lack of wine in the last two updates... It may affect your stamina. Keep up the posts, Jon and Wina x
