1 word summary of the day: hail :-(
A bit of a last start today as Cynthia and I didn't hit the trail until 12:30pm and took advantage of our time in town. Of course I still wasn't able to sleep in and woke at 5am, but managed to doze until 6 when I had my first breakfast of left over pizza from last night :-). Then the four of us met up at 10am for brunch and Brandon and Blake headed back to their trailhead and a friend of Cynthia's gave us a lift back to our trailhead.
Only 9.5 miles today since we got a late start, and unfortunately with the late start we got caught in a bad storm about two hours in. Nothing like thunder, lightening and hail to pick up the pace on the trail! So we made good time and got to camp around 4:15pm, and then of course the sun came out. Oh well, I'd almost rather hike in the rain and have a dry tent, so it worked out ok. But those storms are fierce! No messing with the Colorado monsoon, it can be nasty!
Hopefully the weather will stay nice - need to start hiking the bigger mile days tomorrow in order to keep to the schedule. I'll start early in the morning to get as many miles in before storms hit. Now time for dinner - Lipton's noodles again (cheddar and broccoli tonight I think). What glamorous food, but at least it fuels the body!
