Day 4
Starting location: North Fork of Lost Creek
Ending location: Rock Creek
Distance: 15 miles
Elevation gained: 1100 ft
Photo: sunrise at camp
1 word summary of the day: meandering
Finally a cool night last night since I was camped above 10,000 ft. Such a switch to go from hot hot hot to having to wear some layers when I got out of my sleeping bag this morning!
It was a bit of a later start at 8:30am as I wanted to dry out all of my wet gear from yesterday on e the sun hit the camp. The first half of today's trail meandered along this really pretty valley, all above 10,000 ft. Then the second half meandered through some great forests, without too much elevation change.
The weather was good: a mix of sun and cloud (and a couple of rain sprinkles thrown in for good measure) and a little cooler as well. Finally I'm not dehydrated from the heat a d the sun!
Now I'm camped at Rock Creek with Cynthia and Brandon, and another guy "Just Ben" who is a major long distance hiker having already hiked both the Pacific Crest and Appalachian trails. Interesting guy! I think that Larkin, Crystal and Boscoe are camped about 2 miles back, and I'll likely run into them again soon as I think that they're planning on arriving at Breckenridge the same day that I am.
It's buggier here tonight, so hiding in my tent behind the netting and since it's after 8pm, must be time to go to bed soon!
