1 word summary of the day: milestone
So the rain did continue last night after it graciously stopped to allow me to put up my tent and have dinner - so I did have to pack up a wet tent after all.
Today was a longer day in terms of miles, but the walking wasn't too hard even though the scenery wasn't the greatest. About a mile or two after leaving camp it was road walking for 5.5 miles down and through Princeton (home of hot springs, but I didn't stop to visit them). And then when I finally reached Chalk Creek trailhead and back on the dirt trails again, it was mainly though fields with scarce trees (hot again) and the occasional farm (with cows and/or horses).
However when I got to Sand Creek where I was camping for the night, someone had taped a sign to the tree stating that this was the official halfway point to Durango! Milestone! Now if I could hopefully celebrate tonight with no rain ... :-)
