Today was the 4th weekend we have been in Italy... a small group of us decided that we wanted to do a little bit of shopping in Rome. We got on the train and were off for the day.. we arrived in Rome an hour later and then hit up the Metro station... this is where the funny part of the day begins. To start off we ran into some students from Georgia Southern and walked with them through the metro station hearing about their study abroad program. We were all going to the same metro line, but we ended up getting on the wrong metro line by mistake (after all both lines looked like they picked up at the same spot). We hoped on the metro and after 1 stop realized that we had gotten on the wrong line so we got off at the next stop and played the "american" card to get back into the metro to get back to the correct line. Once we got back to Termini *where we began the adventure* we were walking through the metro once again and we ran into the same Georgia Southern students who said they too had hoped on the wrong line. It was funny because they assumed that since we had been here for 1 month already that it was just now that we were making this mistake of getting on the wrong lines. We eventually made it on the right line and were off again on our adventure of strolling through the city. Next, we got off the subway and just jumped on the bus... this is where it got frustrating.. we had asked mulitple people how to get to a certain location and they all told us the same thing: to get on this bus and we would then get off right in front of what we wanted. So we enjoyed the airconditioning and were awaiting our stop until this kind guy next to us asked us why we had been on the bus so long and he told us that we were going the complete opposite direction as to what we thought... apparently they had given us bad directions. We then hopped off the bus and decided to walk to our destination. After our stroll through Rome, we just decided to walk and shop for the entire day... I loved it.. got some cute clothes and didn't spend as much as I had thought. Spending the day in Rome was just what we all needed to relax from the long week we had. We then decided that we were all craving ice in our drinks so we went to the train station for dinner... yay for McDonalds. We all sat down with our food and were questioning "is it to soon to be wanting american comfort food", it was funny & the best that it has ever tasted. It's funny thinking about the things that you miss the most from home just after 1 short month.. after dinner we then hopped on the train and headed home for the night.
