Wanted to get back into the city once more before I left so decided I would today as Steph was working. Got up and dressed etc then Steph dropped me to the station at 11. Got to the ticked booth but no one was there so went to the little machine... said I could only use cash but I didn't have any! Didn't think there was a cash point near b but went and asked a nice looking girl. She said she didn't think there was bu she could give me the money! Was so suprised but she was serious, so got my ticket just in time for my train. The girl was getting on the same train so I asked if I could sit with her and we chatted all the way to my stop. She had moved to Oz like 10 years ago, not sure where she was from but think it was Asia somewhere... so bad with nationalities! She was studying at uni in Brisbane but had done a fair bit of travelling so it was really interesting talking to her, I would have totally missed my stop if she hadn't said we were there! So had to leave quickly but thanked her for the ticket again... typically it was never even checked! Got off at southbank station, when I got out of the station I had no idea where I was but had a map at hand (proper tourist!) so found my way to the southbank parade... I love it there, definately my favourite part of Brisbane, still gutted the beach was washed away as that seemed to be the highlight. There was a young designers market on the Stanley Street Plaza, and there were loads and loads of little market stalls along the road, really cute stuff but all pretty expensive. Had a nice look around there though, there were some people playing music in the park beside the road and there was a catwalk too with a little fashion going on which I watched for a bit. It's definately a student city! Was really nice thugh, walked through the parklands and onto the board walk. Walked along the river for a while, passing Brisbane's big wheel and the rainforest area which was also closed off due to the floods but I could see it a bit. Was heading for the Southbank museums but somehow walked straight past them! I was literally looking at them! But I missread my map and thought I had further to go. Went completely out f ym way until I had no idea where I was going haha! So asked a family if they could tell me where the museums were and it was obviously where I had just come from, so went back on myself, probably went 20 mins out of my way haha :-p Luckily it was a nice day! Got to the museums in the end and first went to the Queensland Museum. Had nothing on Te Papa in Wellington, but don't think anything will! This one was better than I expected though and I eded up spending an hour in there. I then went to the Queensland Art Gallery which was just how you expect an art gallery, massive spacious rooms with few paintings! Enjoyed looking round, spent ages reading a photography book that was in a big library area. Spend probably 45 mins in there then thought I was done with the museums, it was only because I left a different way to which I had entered that I spotted the Modern Art Gallery, so glad I saw it it was brilliant!! Loads of quirky displays and things to do! Watched a few different little films, some were really random, like a guy just seeing how long he culd hold his mother for.... strange! There were 2 massive slides from the top floor to the bottom, a room full of giant purple balloons and a weird light room - these three things all had long queues, didn't bother queueing for the first two but was totally intereugied by the light room.... there was a huge dark room and in it was a big black cube surrounded by big metal marbles. People were queueing to go in but there was no indication of what was in. So I queued out of interested, was stood next to two English guys who were doing the same things. Probably queued for 15 mins then when we went in it was so random! Basically a mirrored dark room with lots of floating little coloured lights and water surrounding the platform we were on. Was probably not worth the queue but I guess it was pretty cool. Also in the museum was a massive table of lego where people were building buildings to make a big city, an area where you could write a postcard to anywhere in the world and they'll send it for you, a wall full of ribbons with wishes written on, where you exchange your own wish for a ribbon, a room full of little TV screnes with the most popular Youtube videos on, where you could watch them... there was loads to do! Spent a pretty long time in there! There was a swimming pool illusuion where from the top it looked like a normal swimming pool with fully dressed people in it, but it was just a think layer of water then an empty pool underneath which people were going in. Looked really cool! Before I was left I was determained to find the underneath room, took a bit of exploring but got there in the end! Once I was done with the museums I headed over the bridge to the city and to Queens Street, which is the main shopping area in Brisbane. It's a really nice street, lots of outside cafes and bands playing etc... Brisbane is like a big Gunwharf, really clean and a nice vibe. Had a few bits to get for Steph, looked in a few shops for myself and got a new skirt I'd seen before, but luckily the shops were shutting so I couldn't get anything else! So yep, it was 5 o clock and the shops were all shutting so I headed to central station and got on a train back to Yerongpilly, Steph's station. When I got back it was getting quite dark and I knew I had a long walk to go! Walked for about 15 minutes, then I got to what I thought was the supermarket, but was actually the crossroad before! Was tired from walking all day so was happy when I saw the Super Steph van drive past! Luckily Steph was in it so she picked me up and we headed back and decided we would see if anything was on at the cinema for that night, There wasn't a lot, Red Riding hood was on though so we though we would give that a go! Had toget dinner pretty quick then headed down to a cinema on the Southbank. Ended up getting a bit lost and then couldn't park so by the time we got to the fim it had already started, dont think we had missed mch but the cinema was PACKED! We were sat right at the front but it was ridiculous so we sat on the stairs for a bit which wasn't great so we found some seats up the top, they weren't together but it didn't mattter, they were comfy so well worth it! The film was pretty avarage but it was nice going to the cinema all the same :-) The film had potential which was annoying because the acting was awful, so was the script! We got home just before 10, perfect timing as I had arranged to be on Skype! It was mothers day and my unlce and aunties anniversary so all my mums side of the family where going out for a meal and mum was going to see if there was wi-fi so they could get on Skype on Dave's laptop. Was all ready to chat to everyone but mum wasn't answering my call so didn't really know what was going on there. Mike was on Skype though so I chatted to him while I waitied :-) I was super sleepy thought so got Mike to text mum in the end and she came on.... they were in a prtty posh restaraunt and were in the middle of eating! I said she could've waiting till after! She was also on the landlady's laptop! Not sure why she didn't have Dave's but yeah, it was a bit mad! They passed me round the table and all said hi, it really was lovely seeing everyone but funny seeing other people in the background looking over! Got to speak to everyone though, felt nice to speak to them when they were al together, if not a bit strange! Didn't chat for long, just a quick hi to each person and got to say happy mothers day to mum which is what I wanted to do. I then got back to chatting to Mike before going to sleep :-)
