This morning we woke up slightly earlier than normal so that we could go into town to collect the paint for our mural. Unfortunately the paint still had not arrived, but we took pots of black and white which were available, as well as some brushes etc. When we got to the school Fiona and Imogen set to work scrubbing the dirt off the wall, while Steph and Jess began cutting out stencils for the letters on the design. During this, lots of teachers and students walked past saying "well done" and commenting on our "fine art".
We stuck the stencils in the right position on the wall, which took a long time! As soon as we had finished, the teachers told us that we had been invited to Fidah's for lunch again, and we arrived at her house at 1.30. The traditional Ugandan food was delicious as usual, and we were all really full afterwards.
Then we headed back up to the school to start painting the mural. Since the paint was weatherguard, we were very wary as the last thing we wanted was to permanently ruin their wall! However, after peeling off the stencils, we were pleased with our work, and many of the girls were now gathering round, curious as to what we were doing.
This gave us a great opportunity to chat to the girls, and Steph gave them her camera with which they excitedly took loads of photos. They asked Mr T to sing Justin Bieber's 'Boyfriend', the pupils' current favourite song. Despite the fact some Ugandans we had met previously had thought he was our dad, the girls thought that he looked 18!
In the evening, we went to a wholesale company with Fidah where we selected 50 shiny new chairs for the school, and 10 tables. It was difficult to fit these all in the minibus, but Robert the driver rose to the challenge successfully! Then we stopped off at a bakery which Fidah was familiar with, to place an order for cakes for Saturday - our planned gift to each of the girls. This involved trying every traditional and delicious cake they had on offer (which we obviously found really tedious ...)
After this, although darkness had fallen, Fidah took us to her favourite craft shops. They were already shut, but we got the celebrity treatment as we were with Fidah, and they reopened the shops especially for us. We bought some lovely souvenirs, and then headed back to the hotel.
In the evening, we went to a local chinese restaurant (Fiona immediately felt right at home), and the food came surprisingly quickly - a first for Uganda! The food was tasty, and Mr T was particularly interested by a fish tank nearby which housed a terrapin and an eel.
Dreading the early start tomorrow, but having a great time!

Chantal Looks like the mural is coming on well and glad to hear you're all having a great time.
CR You're certainly keeping busy! Sounds as though Fidah is looking after you well. Love to her and to you. xx
