After a long flight I finally made it to Cairns via Darwin.
It was quite easy to get through, everything was checked through X-ray machines , I was checked for explosives. But had no problems getting through. Once to Cairns I just walked straight in and out of immigrations and caught a bus to my hostel, Corona's backpackers. Ended up sleeping for a few hours before spending money on a food shop and getting a sim card sorted.
Spent 6 days in Cairn mostly catching up on sleep and walking around. The town seemed like an American town, everything is spaced out , roads and pavements are very wide.
People seemed friendly enough and met loads of people at the hostel.
Also you got a free meal in the evenings at Woolshed which is a pub, I opted for the chilli each night with an upgrade of cheese for 50c, wasn't too bad. Every evening at 8pm was the same off we went to the Woolshed.
Else who I had been travelling with came after 4 days and we rented out a campervan.
Also Ed another guy I met through Facebook page ended up with us and we went off on Road trip.
The prices are more like home; everything is so much more expensive especially coming from South East Asia.
But I quite like Cairns and have nothing to compare to yet but like what I have seen of Australia so far.
