Finished packing our van and left Cairns heading west to the 'Savannah Way' (hwy that goes to Normanton).
The lush green jungles were soon left behind as the landscape merged into the dry, dusty North Queensland bush.
After a 5hour drive we arrived at our camp for the next two days, the 'Undarra Lava Tube experience'.
The ULT camp is surrounded by huge old volcanic lava tubes among the Undarra National Park.
The accommodation is in old restored train carriages (or tent/caravan).
The Savanah guides organize nightly events at the big campfire site with tonights guide showing a slideshow and recounting stories from his traveling adventures around Australia.
Walking back to camp in the dark, we found a Rufus eating bread scraps(pictured)-they are very placid and inquisitive which allowed us to get close.
Highlight today: the evening campfire.
