Early morning drive to Normanton, home of the biggest crocodile on record. Kris (replica pictured) was 8.4mtrs and shot by a female crocodile hunter in 1980's.
We drove to Karumba right on the edge of the Gulf of Carpentaria. Here we visited the Baramundi breeding farm and learnt all about 'Barra farming'. Mel also fed them and got a fright when they loudly snapped at her.
Barramundi are born male and then turn female later in life, they also have no rib cage!
Afterwards we found a cafe on the water and had a grilled Barra Burger, Fried Barra with chips and a strong, hot espresso coffee-lovely!
We drove back through Normanton and then another 200kms to the Burke & Wills roadhouse (only place for miles). It wasn't worth paying $12 to sleep out the back and so we continued another 60kms before parking up in a truck bay for the night (Roos were starting to get active).
Highlight today: Barramundi farm & Barra burger.
