Up early for showers at the truck stop down the road (in the mens shower room because there is no women's showers-but surprisingly clean and the boys didn't seem to mind).
Travelled into Gladstone for a tour around the Port. Visited the coal processing plant on the docks and surprised to learn that it is a gravel form-not bricketts!
Once a coal ship is docked, the coal transfer starts within 45 minutes and can transfer 6,000tonne of coal per hour. Some ships can take up to 90,000 tonne per load!
During the Ports tour we were also shown around the Marina, the storage facilities for fuel, grain, nitrates etc and the shipping containers.
Gladstone has five Tugg boats to guide each of the ships into the port area, sometimes one large ship needs three 'Tuggs' to guide them in/out.
After lunch we op shopped for some trashy reading material then visited a sports therapist for the usual old age ailments...
Highlight today: Getting to go into the Coal transfer port.
