Today I awoke to set out breakfast for the seemingly small amount of guests after all the NOLS people left two days ago. We still have two of them with us though. I spent some Time in the morning catching up on news and Facebook and when I returned to the common room to clear breakfast, I got a surprise! Peter had returned! He was the NOLS student that stayed with us about five days before whom I had tromped around town with, had tiramisu and wine, and who passed out in our common room. He was back from his small vacation of hitchhiking to be back in time for his training to begin the next day, and was just stopping by the hostel to say hello! He stayed for a couple hours and even got to meet some of the NOLS students that were left at the hostel and they enjoyed hearing different perspectives of the different sections they completed. It was great to see Peter again and I really hope to catch him down the road again. He is a really friendly guy with a boisterous personality, who doesn't seem afraid of anything. I have a good feeling I will pass him at some point in my further travels....
The night was spent making dinner with Thomas and Gabby (their good friend from Germany that has been staying with us for a while -- she also owns a farm south of town), while we bonded over some Russian vodka. The food turned out delicious despite the shots being drained. Those two are really funny, and especially since gabby only really speaks Spanish and German, it was doubly funny with a language barrier. We ended up all going to bed pretty early, which was probably good. I hadn't had a full nights sleep in a long while....
