Today we said goodbye and good luck to Adam. Our new guest was a man from Wales who was cycling from the south of Chile up to Alaska (and attempting this in 18 months). He told me that the winds of southern Patagonia had been pretty rough to him so far -- he had been blown right off his bike numerous times already! So yeah, we have some pretty nasty winds here :-/
Today I started a Facebook Page for our hostel business. The challenge in this was that Thomas had created a profile for the hostel awhile ago to save the name and then hadn't done much with it since then. So I had to go and find the password, link it to the page I created and try to figure out the best way to use it. Eventually we got something that worked and now I have to upload photos and start putting statuses up. We are only up to 3 friends so far. Haha
Today I arranged to meet with a local guy named Cesar who was a host on couchsurfing.com. I figured it would be a good way to meet a local and hopefully could make up a schedule of regular spanish lessons. He met me at the hostel and we ended up walking around the town a little before we stopped for coffee at a nice cafe. He showed me where the library was, a place I could buy art supplies, and pointed out a cool restaurant that apparently has a mechanical bull! Over coffee we got to know each other. He went to school for 6 years to be a translator and has worked in hostels in Central America. He has the same mentality of I do that life isn't meant to be planned -- just gotta go with it! He is now working at the Pepe Le Pub bar in town and also does tours of the city and surrounding areas for visiting tourists. He had to work that night at the bar (actually every night but Sunday, from 7:30-4am) so he showed me where it was before we parted ways. He is pretty busy usually but we are going to try to meet up again to practice some Spanish, which I desperately need!
This week was full of excitement because Felipe, who had came with me to Pucon and whom I had been having nightly conversations with, was coming to visit me this Wednesday! I am so excited to see him again! He will be here until Sunday. I am meeting him at the airport and I'm excited to show him my little town. :)
