Today I introduced Thanksgiving to my class and we talked about what we were thankful for and what blessings are.I read when Jesus fed the 5000.The kids were really interested and began asking questions again! It was a privilege to explain to them how faithful and good God is!Melissa, my roommate, and I went to her student, Jack's home again and his parents took us out to a nice restaurant. The father had asked us the previous week if we liked spicy food and my roommate told him yes so he ordered some very spicy dishes. One of the dishes had these little ball peppers. The whole trip everyone had told me not to eat them, but I accidently did since they are so small. The peppers numbed my mouth, which wasn't bad because I still could taste the food, but the spices didn't affect me.My roommate suggested me trying a chili pepper so I did and nothing happened. The parents recommended us not eating them, but I thought they wouldn't affect me so I had another one and another until I had had six and by that time the numbness had gone away.My mouth started watering like crazy and my tongue swelled up.I couldn't talk normal because the left side of my tongue swelled.I had a good 7 glasses of water. It was hilarious.
After dinner Jack's family took us to a beautiful park and we walked and talked for about half an hour.It was great to continue to get to know them and share with them.We had a prayer meeting shortly after and what a blessing those prayer meetings are. Some of the T.A.s joined us tonight so that was really neat to pray over them and involve them since so much of our prayers have been for them.
We only have a few days left and a lot to do in those few days, but we know God will provide strength and energy for us to do what He has called us to do here.I am very confident in that!
"Being confident of this, that He who began a good work in you will carry it on to completion until the day of Christ Jesus."
Philippians 1:6
