This morning was blanketed in a white mist making almost nil visibility across the bay. We ate breakfast, packed up and crossed our fingers the car would be fine. And it was, thanks to my clever husband!
We drove back to Portland to take care of some chores - to the dump point to empty the toilet (it has to be done!), then filled the van tanks with water, the car with fuel and the gas bottles with gas and importantly, purchased extra fuses for the car...just in case!
Then we drove to Nelson, ate lunch and had a look at the Glenelg River, which meets the sea at Nelson.
Then we drove to Dry Creek on recommendation of a local who said you can camp there but it wasn't suitable for us and we knew it would get busy with locals coming to fish over the weekend.
Next we got a little stressed trying to navigate to a couple of rest stops which were also unsuitable so eventually crossed the border into South Australis and ended up in Mount Gambier.
We went to see the Blue Lake (not quite as blue at this time of year) and the Sink Hole before setting up at the Showgrounds where we will probably stay for a few days.
Made a bbq for dinner and drove into town (strange to unhook the van for the first time this trip) in the evening to see the sound and light show of the town's history - great concept, pity it was a bit boring.
Back to the van, watched a bit of TV, checked out our photos from the last few days, showered and, feeling sleepy, had another early night.
