Another of those lazy mornings which are beginning to become a habit! Decided to stay put today so Gadi can try to fix the car - something about the wires to the electric brakes and the reverse camera for the van - but I'm not technical so don't really get it!
I am very glad I bought an aeropress, which is a wonderful little invention that uses no power, and brought some really good coffee, so I don't feel I am missing out on life's little necessities (coffee is not a luxury!)
We ate a late brekky of scrambled eggs with smoked salmon, avocado and cherry tomatoes, and Gadi got to work on the car. I helped too eventually, if you count applying pressure to the brakes and the brake control unit on and off as requested. We think it's fixed, but will only know tomorrow when we head off.
So amazing to be camped on this glorious beach even though the weather is cool (around 18). We hung out our first load of washing when we got here last night and strung it up as discretely as possible behind my bed which faces the cove and is not overlooked.
So, how did we do our washing when we don't travel with a washing machine, you ask? We bought a large plastic tub with a wide mouth and screw on lid for this purpose. We know if you use wool wash it doesn't need rinsing, so the plan is to wash clothes on the days we travel and the tub will roll around on the bathroom floor, agitating away and cleaning our clothes, ready to wring out and hang up when we get to our destination. Well, that's the theory and we'll see how it goes in practice. So far, because it's so cool and the sea is making the air damp, the clothes haven't dried properly, but we took them down late afternoon and they will finish drying in the van.
In the afternoon Gadi walked along the cliffs to see the local seal colony and I chilled out, chatted to my sister and daughter on the phone, read some of my book (I am reading Reckoning, Magda Szubanski's memoir) and started watching a chick flick.
We sat outside to share the last of a bottle of tokay from Mount Prior in north eastern Victoria and a plate of fruit (we have to get through all our fruit and veg before we cross into South Australia) and we played a game of rummy tiles as we drank in the sea air and listened to the pounding waves.
After dinner we started watching a movie (45 Years) but found the combination of the slowness of the movie and the loud surf start to put us to sleep, so we had an early night.
Sweet dreams!
