Ok Guys, so i've been a tad lazy and just let things fly by without blogging them last week. It's been 2 months, which is incredibly scary since that means there's only 9 or so left. AJSDKLAJSKDJALJ not good, not good at all.
So what's happened?? I honestly don't know, since, I honestly don't know. Heaps of things have happened but they're mostly things I can't really tell you via the internet.
I'm going to start refering to my age according to how long i've been here. Weird I know but it will make sense.
I decided to read back on some of the blog entries I made when I first got here. All I can say was that the new born me was clueless. I didn't really say much or right many things down. I know I had major expectations for where i'd be at 2 months. I still have one more month until I need to sit down and really ask myself what ive done since i've gotten here. All the promises you make yourself before going on exchange generally go out the window once you're in and amongst it all. I don't think that's a bad thing though, you just see things from a new perspective. I can say that I'm happier about things I didn't think about a few months ago and less concerned about topics which would make me paranoid before I left. I will admit, I am still akward when it comes to buying things at the shops but I have a better poker face.
I've had my good days lately. The ones that make you want to get out of bed in the morning. It's truly a great feeling. Fortunately, I haven't had depressing days just angry ones and there IS a difference. Mostly, I've decided not to dwell on the bad or unfortunate things and just decided to look forward. You honestly don't have a choice you tend to forget them the next day anyway.
There's some good stuff to look forward to!
E.g. PRAGUE NEXT WEEK. Oh yeah i'm excited. We shall all sing and eat and party and embrace the culture we're about to see. That's the idea anyway. SAHHH EXCITED!
EASTER HOLIDAY: Not actually sure what I'm doing that week but it's a week off school. Then there's some more sucky moduls (Chemistry, Physics, Biology, Samfundsfag) ugh they're shocking but still. We started watching a movie in Physics. You know that amazing feeling when the teacher has a DVD in their hands. *angels start singing from the heavens* AND it was in English. Double happiness.
I've become mega mega lazy. I really haven't learnt that much Danish in the past few weeks. My reading has gotten, in general, heaps better but I'm not saying much at all. Also Danish lessons have become incredibly boring and unmotivating. I'm sorry but learning how to say "Who is Micahel to Ida? & Lise is Mikkel's Grandmother" is in no way preparing me for normal everyday socialising. No wonder it's hard to make friends. Honestly, the day I actually say that in a normal conversation I will give Malte (the Danish teacher) a hug.
Danish Music Festivals. You can't see all the artists and posters and not want to go to one. The cool thing is, they go for about a week and you have the option to camp there. The one I have my eyes on is the Skive festival. Yes please. It's also a bonus when you know most of the artists going! Going to a music festival has been on my wish list and I think doing it in a forgein country gets about 1000 extra cool points. Mum please? :D
Skipped my first class. HA REBEL. In the name of "going to Danish Lessons" I skipped Maths and went into Aalborg and spent the sunny afternoon by the water with my wonderful contact host sister (Sofie). It's amazing how seeing the sun can make you feel. Everyone starts wearing shorts and t-shirts and they even put on sunglasses. It's quite hilarious and although still a whopping 10 degrees, it makes you happy. It's not even surprising when a group of guys walk past carrying a crate of beer and a stereo the size of duffel bag. I was actually kind of jealous. Then the weather gets hormonal again and it goes back to cloudy and grey but it's practically Australian so it's allllll good.
Procrastination. Easy even from abroad. Supposed to have done a 2 page layout for the Sydney Water newsletter which I believe is due next week but haven't even started. Lols to my future self. I'm going to have fun doing that.
I love old people. I seem to get along with them a lot better than others. Is that a good thing? I don't know. Had a sweet conversation with my host dad's fathers girlfriend about how she went to Australia. It was sort of half in Danish half in English so it took a while to communicate but none the less, it was nice.
Went into Aalborg for my host dad's birthday. Though he didn't tell anyone what we were doing so I ended up going in practically hobo clothes while everyone else looked decent. Nice one Alex. It was a restaurant on the lower deck of a boat in the river in Aalborg. It's kind of akward though because the floor is on an angle and you have to shuffle weirdly not to drop your food everywhere. Then this poor old man knocked over someone elses jug of beer onto the floor and it all started dripping to one side of the boat. Poor old man. Hehehe
Sat there eating cake with my older host brother pretending to be Master Chef judges. That........is........amazing.
Woke up Saturday morning feeling completely weird and dizzy and thought to myself "man Alex what did you do last night?" that's right. NOTHING. I ate cake and 2 fransk hotdogs at my little brothers birthday party. My skinny jeans are getting ready to send an S.O.S call. I'm pretty proud of still being able to fit in them after 2 months.
How many people actually read this? I love getting a random comment about it every now and then but of course it can make me paranoid about if i'm saying too much or too little. Trying to sound less mature in this entry as I don't want to scare Jess Smith any further. Haha
Sorry, this entry is really dodgy. I honestly don't know what i'm doing these days but yesh. Just checking in as they say.
Talk to you soon with hopefully something more worthwhile to say. April looks promising.
