Monday: Musn't have been very eventful since I can't remember what I did. I think I mostly read my Dan Brown book. Oh the suspense.
Tuesday: got to sleep in and it felt nice. Spoke to my family on Skype for a little while which did make me late for school but Danish biology isn't my forte anyway.
I went back to Sofie's house before choir. (My contact families daughter so practically my host sister) We were picked up from school by one of her friends dad who happened to be blasting Barbie Girl by Aqua through the speakers. He finished this grand entrance off by wearing a very stylish pair of sunnies. Quite a sight. Did you know Aqua was Danish? The things you learn...
We made tortillas with guacamole and had a good ol' girls chat while making dinner. Then I met a few of her lovely friends while we drove to choir. A nice hygge always makes things that much better.
Choir was fun as per usual. Getting more excited for Prague now but i've probably mentioned that too many times. I do feel a tad special being in the choir because they sound really good. I have a mini Glee moment every Tuesday night. Tee hee!
Deary me girls, don't post slutty photos of yourself on Facebook because well, I said so and I rather not explain.
Wednesday: A boring boring day! I attempted to read a worksheet we were given in Samfundsfag (most boring class on this earth) and it instantly sucked all the energy out of me while my little brain tried to translate it.
Math, they don't have it every day so once a week I try and learn the surface area of 3D objects because I know that at some point while i'm here in this European land, that I will need to know how to find the surface area of an open hemisphere. Yes.
Had a bacon og æg sandwich for lunch. YUM. It was secretly good making Miss. America jealous while she watched me eat it. I did let you try some though Kelsea so you can't hold it against me. Speaking English together around Danish people is honestly the funnest thing to do. Their faces when they realise we're native English speakers are just priceless. It's like a "who's speaking English, which I can totally understand, but refuse to speak unless i'm quoting a youtube video and/or movie!?" Sorry for offending you all.
Not speaking English has gone from tiring to frustrating, but how many times have I told you that now?
It started snow raining which is nice but a female dog to walk around in. It makes you look like you've stepped out of the shower wearing clothes.
Bought a new flavour of Arla's yoghurt and I was extremely disappointed. It was quite disgusting. Arla who approved that flavour to sell to innocent and curious customers? Never againg.
Thursday: Late for Fysiks because I was. Don't remember much of that lesson but I spent most of it writing the English essay. The we had English class. Oh man. Danish to English translations. I mean, I know I have to speak Danish eventually, but attempting to read Danish to Danish people was all round embarassing. Glad I could give you guys a good laugh. Though I know it wasn't for a bad reason....I think.
It seemed we had an English class D&M which was qutie sweet. Talking about what we think success means and what we want in life to make us happy. Educated conversation is what I call it.
Yes, I ate a lot of kage today.
Performed the play about the onde heks, bager drage, smukke princesse og Harry Potter klon. It was an impressice performance with the battle scene and all.
It was also the last Danish lesson with Daniel because he's off to finish school and complete his exams. Good luck and thanks for putting up with such a shocking yet fun people for a month!
Friday: Time to see the beautiful faces of my long lost exchange buddies!
Woke up grudgingly and started packing hoping I wouldn't forget anything. Also made sure that I pacled lightly for the 30 minute walk to the station. Got a few looks for being the girl carrying a bag, backpack and blue and purple sleeping mat. Just whatever. I can't be embarassed anymore. Though I'm sure I just jynxed myself saying that. I really thought about what I would say if someone stopped and asked if I needed a lift. Sadly, hitch hiking is against AFS rules, I'm not that stupid AND there have been too many horror, torture death stories about Australian tourists for me to say yes to that.
Skyped for about 2 hours with my family from home. Good feelings all around! Also spoke with a few people from school. Shout out to Kirsty and Elise :)
One thing about not being able to speak a language is that swearing becomes your new best friend. By muttering it to yourself it gives you quite a good feeling. Swear in Danish around English speakers and both around Danish people. A win win.
Bought myself Maccas for the first time! OH NO! I also bought a drink, a mars bar and snickers bar but yeah..don't worry about that.
Arrived at camp and saw all your beautiful faces! Made me smile for a good 72 hours.
Saturday: Breakfast with white bread and jam and chocolate sheets and oh yes it was so so so good.
Had group sessions talking about feelings etc etc etc. It was nice talking to everyone about how they've been going and it makes you feel better and less alone. Exchange students are only understood by one group of people and that's other exchange students. May sound harsh but it's true.
We (Paz, Kurt, Tom, Gabriella, Siobhan) were the loudest group there of course. I think some of the group leaders only sit with us originally to find out why we're always laughing so much. Of course it's generally something sexual but Denmark has corrupted us all. Maybe it's because the leaders have misleading entertainment while we're eating dessert. The photos are self explanatory.
Each group had to think up an activity for people to do after dinner. Our group decided to play a game using paper. All you had to do was pass it around using your mouth and if you dropped it, it got ripped in half. The Thai people were a little bit hesitant at first but I believe a few of them really enjoyed themselves after a few tries ;) Nothing wrong with that.
We had a fest which wasn't really a fest but in general people dressed up and danced to Danish, Thai, Spanish and Portuguese music. As well as Queen and last but not least, The Village People. Latin American's know how to dance. Lucky for me, someone kindly taught me how to do a few Spanish moves and it was heaps of fun.
Paula you could dance for hours. I'm definitely going clubbing with you if I ever go to Brazil. Only you could look confused yet amazing on the dance floor.
I have a new appreciation for my black skinny jeans. A select few know why.
The sleeping arrangement. Sitting in front of the heater was fun and somehow we all agreed it would be a good idea to bring all sleeping mats and bags there to sleep for the night. Paz does have a nice "behind" though and I was quite comfortable. It's a pleasure waking up to the opening song from the Lion King. Rasmus you have too many ideas.
Sunday: Sadly, it was the day we had to say goodbye until we'll see each other again at the beginning of August. Though of course we made the most of it.
Such as cleaning the high school. How a floor could get so damn dusty I have no idea. People don't even go outside unless they're going home so it doesn't make any sense. We probably left it in a state 20 times better than it's ever been.
Found out Danish people don't understand the definiton of "the friend zone". Actually, they probably do but chose not to believe it. That's ok with me though.
Finally arriving home was a nice feeling. Getting to sleep on something elevated off the floor was even better.
Mumford & Sons are the fav group for this week.
Do you like me now!? (a reference to youtube video and not to my non existent love life)
Overall, I had a pretty good week and thanks to everyone who made me smile. God knows laughing and having good friends is what it's all about.
Vi ses! xoxo
