Hello All.
I keep promising to update but I lie. I guess you've figured out by now it takes me forever to update anything.
Flashback time.
Min Fødselsdag (my birthday). It was a nice and memorable 16th birthday. I was woken up to my host family singing one of the danish songs and then got to eat "birthday buns" with hot chocolate before going to school. Really, I didn't want to go at school since I wasn't really up to being there on my birthday so I came home early and spent the rest of the day with my host sister. The sun was shining (which in Denmark means that you've been a good person) and it was nice following the Danish birthday traditions. There were Danish flags around the house and at the front door so that everyone who went past knew it was someones birthday. I got lovely presents and after a refreshing walk in the forest I came home to find a bunch of flowers at the front door. Fleur Combridge you really made me smile! It was nice getting all the messages over facebook (as odd as that sounds) because I really did miss having my friends around me that day. Then for dinner my second host family made a really yummy and big selection of food for me and my current family and I've never eaten so much. It was a hyggeligt evening and it was comforting, having 2 important families together with me on my birthday.
Viking Market. Last weekend, my host mum, dad, grandma and I went to a viking market at a nearby town and it was interesting to see. People were dressed up in the traditional viking clothes and they were selling jewellery, baskets and heaps of other things they used to make 'back in the day'. I bought a leather armband and my host mum also bought me a very pretty red glass bead which can fit on my Pandora and so now I have another memory on there. My grandma seems to know half the town so while she was sitting down people were constantly coming over to say hi. It was funny because afterwards sometimes she'd say "I don't know their name".
Third Host Family. Ahh yes so what most of you don't know, partly because I didn't want you too, is that i've moved host families again. I've been living with my contact family for almost the last 2 months now and they're really sweet and lovely. I have my host mum, dad and older sister so i'm in a family of 4. I didn't move because I had issues with my last family, everything was perfect, infact it was more because things were going too well. As i'm sure most of you have put 2 and 2 together, I am dating my ex host brother and I believe it made AFS a little uncomfortable so they came to the conclusion that I should move host families. Luckily, I live just down the road and see them at least twice a week. Although it definitely wasn't the best time being moved again I think we have the best solution for what was a not so nice situation. I now have 2 families who mean a lot to me and I can spend as much time as I like with my second family. So I guess there's no need to ask me anymore questions about what it's like living with my boyfriend because i'm not. The only reason i've told you was because when I start speaking about my host family in blogs, i'm speaking about both as if they're the same people when they're not and it's not really fair since i'm doing different things and have different but fantastic memories with both of them. So now you know.
Idræts dag. This is like the school sports carnival but I like it so much better. Each class chooses their own theme like sports freaks, greeks, nerds, etc etc. Then the class decides which sport they'd like to play that day such as soccer, volleyball, table tennis, chess, dance and some others. It doesn't really sounds like a sports day but I like it better because there are things for everyone and people are more interested and willing to participate if they can choose something they like. It's also funny watching people dressed in sheets play volley. I played volley and our team did pretty well. My class bought these t-s***s with 'Alti, Alti' written on it which means always always. It's from a news clip in Denmark my class finds funny so that's where that idea came from. Sadly, we didn't make it to the finals but I still had a fun day and my class came first for the tug-of-war in our grade and second overall. The day is also a lot more relaxed and people find their own things to do once they've finished playing their games so I spent an hr or so playing table tennis with some people from class when I was done.
Første gymfest. The schools first party of the year. It's called Sutfest which really has an extremely weird explanation. The first yr's are about to experience their first gym party and so they're asked to dress in white and wear a dummy/pacifier to show they're new. The boys have a blue and the girls a pink. Then the seconds years (me) wear blue and the third years wear black. The idea of this party is that if a first year kisses a second or third year they'll be given the first years dummy. This way if a second year boy is walking around with 4 pink dummies and 2 blue dummies you know they've kissed 4 first yr girls and 2 first yr boys. Well that didn't happen on Friday but you get the idea, it's weird. I had these massive expectations of all these people kissing all night but I was wrong. There was hardly any kissing. What a let down hey? Oh well it was a fun gym party.
How am I? If you're curious i'm ok. I think i've given up a little on some things which is sad but I still have 3 months (that's not long at all) to snap out of it and get the most out of the time I have left. Time is still going quicker and quicker every day and I do feel like a belong more now.
LONDON. On thursday I'll be catching the train to København airport and flying to London to meet my real grandma! She's going on a eurotour and will be in London for a few days before so it's the perfect time for me to meet her there and see the city together. I'm super super excited and after much organising my Grandma and I will be together in 5 days. I think she's probably a little more excited than I am but it'll be great to give her a hug again. I'm sure I'll cry just a little. There's nothing better than a hug from your grandparents.
Unfortunately while in London, it means that i'll miss my second host mum's birthday so I'll have to make it extra special when I get home and celebrate it together with the family.
This weekend I was at a familie weekend with my current host family and it was nice meeting everyone. The family on my host mums side is absolutely huge (over 50 people) and so we had practically booked all rooms at this place we were staying at and had taken over the eating room. My Mormor has 7 kids and them plus their kids and their kids all generations are represented. It's really sweet seeing how happy everyone it together. It was near Ebeltoft, the snot coming out of the nose shaped part of Denmark and the area was beautiful. Before coming home we went for a walk and then ate lunch by the water. Everyone had a nice sleep on the drive home and we arrived to our usual sunny house in Skørping.
Sometime in October i'll be going on a mini exchange to Silkeborg to live with another family for a week. I think it's supposed to be so you know what it's like to live with other Danish families but I don't think I have a problem with that anymore. Either way I'm still looking forward to it as it's always nice to meet new people. Unfortunately, it's the day before my second host sisters birthday so I'll have to make up for that too.
Time is winding down and the days are getting colder and darker quicker. I don't mind it but it does mean before I know it, i'll be on a plane home. I think i'll just ride it out and see what happens. Things can happen so quickly and change so dramatically there's no point worrying about something 2 months away.
I guess i'll talk to you soon :)

Sonali That sounds brilliant! The sports carnival did sound pretty appealing; perhaps we could get a petition to do that here and the gym party sounds amusing. Dummys? What an interesting... well - tradition. But nonetheless, it gives off the impression of being really interesting! Erm - bye. Ahaha :)
