OKAY, so I literally wrote an essay over the week so once I had internet connection again I could simply press "publish" but no; my ipod deleted EVERYTHING. This is the third time I have had to recount what I've done and it's a strugle to remember yesterday. Here.we.go.again.
Danish Cola, it claims to be original taste but it's not. It tastes nothing like coke but i'll still drink it anyway because sugar is sugar. The coke bottles here are really funny. Most are glass but them some are plastic but they're not shaped the same and it's really quite confusing.
Hearing a Norwegian person say "Hamburger and McChicken Burger" with an accent is completely hilarious. Their accents are the best! Norwegian people sound so happy all the time but kind of like they're choking on their words.
My host siblings asked me who my best friend was and why I called her my best friend. So I told them. I said I could do anything and at the end of the day she'd still be there for me. Which I'm hoping is accurate, otherwise we have some things to discuss. And please stop writing haha at the end of everything. It makes me nervous! HAHA
The 3 month camp (but it's not even 3 months I don't get it) is next weekend and i'm super excited to see everyone again! Though I have become paranoid that you've all learnt Danish a lot quicker than me and will be able to speak it fluently. Secretly, I hope that's not the case. Also, let's be honest. Everyone just wants to see who's gained 10kgs and who hasn't.
White bread withdrawals. I'm honestly lucky to have some sort of white bread once a week and I really, really, really miss it. I miss having toast and white bread sandwiches and just being able to steal a piece when I'm hungry. I also want salad. OH SALAD! Healthy foods that have flavour. Time to fly Grandma over so she can cook me some food!
My Danglish is getting better. It's when you type in English but throw in some Danish words just to spice things up. Good luck trying to make me speak Danish though because qutie frankly, I think I sound ridiculous. I will answer in my head if I know what you're saying but still....that isn't get us anywhere is it. Watching the Disney Channel is a great way to learn Danish though because everything has voice overs and you can pretty much guess what they're saying.
Sitting with the family when everyone is just doing nothing is a great feeling. It's not quite the same when you're not sitting with your own family though. It's like you're standing back and taking the picture instead of actually being in it. Things take time though and I'm getting there.
Whoever thought putting thinly sliced pieces of chocolate on bread was a genius. Especially when it's just come out of the oven and it starts to melt. YUM.
So I went skiing in Norway this week. It's fun and the country is beautiful just like the rest of Europe and its male inhabitants. Yes, I did fall over and I have a bruise to prove it (hard core) but it is definitely a great feeling when the wind is going past you and you feel invincible. Then you lose control of where you were going and snap back into reality. You can't break on ice. Who would have guessed?
Had a few life pondering moments when I was looking over the mountains. Why am I here? Who am I really? How did I get from 632 and Pennant Hills station to Gautefall, Norway? How have I survived over a month without my friends and family? Why do I miss white bread so much? Maybe I'll crack soon and lose the plot? That kind of stuff. You know, the things your brain decides to run through your head when you're trying to fall asleep.
I will admit I wanted to death stare kids as I could hear a lot of them screaming "DAAAAAAD" while I was skiing. I miss being able to yell Dad and know that he'd come help me (eventually) or knowing that he'd make me some raison toast for breakfast. Then I could see fathers teaching their kids to ski and you get a little emotional. That's when I pretend to sneeze or cough or pretend that I'm tired to hide my emotions. You're basically an actress sometimes. *Flicks hair*
I would love a Mum or Dad hug. Just because they love you and their hugs mean everything is ok and that someone else is there so you can relax and let your mind calm down. I miss being hugged.
It's hard not to get sick when people don't cover their mouth when they cough or sneeze. Is it a Danish thing or am I just pedantic about germs???
There aren't as many fast food restaurants here. You don't see a McDonald's every 5 minutes which is probably a good thing.
Where is the cable for my camera? Have you seen it? It's kind of pointless taking photos on my camera if I can't upload them to anything.
I'm actually glad that the school routine is starting again. Routine is nice sometimes.
Leaving Norway I was excited to be going home and sleeping in a familiar bed. Arriving at the gates to catch the MASSIVE ferry, we were told that the 6pm route had now been delayed till 4AM because of bad weather. Too much McDonald's, 3 hours of sleeping on the terminal floor and a few Uno games later, we managed to waste 11 hours and begin our journey home again. It's a good feeling being home. Well not home home but you know what I mean.
I did manage to sleep a little on the ferry but then I woke up to the sounds of a little girl vomiting. Oh bliss, it was almost like the movies when hearing someone throw up makes you want to throw up. Ugh sorry, too much information.
I can see things are still going great from all your wonderful photos on facebook. They make me happy! Also seeing status' about homework make me laugh so have fun with the Geography assignment. Tobin I hope you find some stuff out about Berowra's natural problems!
The facebook timeline? Oh man, I was a weird kid back in 2009 and now all of you can go back and laugh at it. 13 year olds shouldn't be allowed to write love status'. Primary school was just so heartbreaking wasn't it?
All the snow melted now :'(
I have no idea what I've written since my mind is completely useless but I think that's all for now.
Yada, yada, yada……
Until we meet again!
