Started the Medium walk at West Burton We walked along a high track above Wensleydale to the village of West Witton, then on a track beside the River Ure back to Aysgarth Falls. lovely sunny day until very near the end of the walk, when there was a heavy shower. I was whip and was trying to get Nick, a very slow walker, to keep up with the main bunch. We had lunch in a nice sheltered spot and afternoon tea in the cafe that I had visited while cycling through. They recognised me and had a chat-- they said most of the usual HF walkers just sat outside waiting for the bus looking miserable and tired. The drive back was through the valley to Hawes then back to Sedbergh -- the countryside looked lovely in the evening sun.
In the evening we had a slide show of Sedbergh wildlife--of course I fell asleep for most of it,I should have gone to bed. I was hoping it would be more about the geology of the region.
