Fine day, plenty of sunshine early on. Breakfast was plentiful with a huge range of choices. The packed lunch was more than adequate. We all set off in the minibus driving towards Kirby Stephen but turning off through Ravenstonedale and on to Bowerdale ,where the harder walk started. 10 people plus Clive as leader headed due South up a long undulating ridge over Westfell and Hazelgill Knott to the summit of the Calf, at 2200m, the highest part of the Howgills, then back to Sedbergh and Thorns Hall. Lunch was at the trig point sheltering from the tearing wind. Back by 3.30 and relaxing until the 7o'clock meeting and dinner. The meeting was to discuss the walks for the next day--all very organised!
