Steady drizzle in morning so we all assembled at the boot-shed clad in rainwear, ready for a wet day ahead. The bus took us along the Hawes road to Shaws Paddock where the hard walkers started off along a bridle way to Hell Gill Bridge. Then we climbed,in the ever increasing wind and rain, to Mallerstang Edge. The ridge continued overHigh Seat and High Peak Hill 2106ft. We were up in the clouds so did not have the views towards Swaledale until we descended. The path downhill came out in the small village of Nateby, then a series of footpaths through farmland brought us to Kirkby Stephen. While waiting for the bus we invaded a nearby cafe for tea and cake. The floor was liberally scattered with wet grass and drips from our raingear. The walkers from the easy and medium walks joined us on the bus for the trip back to Thorns Hall. Back by 5.30.Looks like another quiz tonight !
