My weekend off in New Jersey was amazing. It was so nice to get away from the bubble of camp even though I love my camp family. I went to Gymboree with Isla, my cousins' 10 month old daughter, went to the pool and had a chance to top up my non existent tan, ate really good food and watched my first bit of television in 7 weeks!
The new session started on Sunday and it made a nice change to have only 18 campers instead of nearly 40 and also nice to see some faces we had seen in previous sessions. It was clear on the day that they arrived that this would be a session working on our cardio, chasing campers around instead of lifting campers! We have a few wanderers!
My schedule has been a lot less hectic this week so it's been a lot more relaxed making it a nice way to slowly end my final 2 weeks at camp before being busy travelling around.
Most of the campers are quite high functioning and are able to do everything themselves with just prompts so it makes everything a lot easier although it is a different dynamic with kids around us instead of all adults.
Although it's been a bit calmer it hasn't been without its hiccups. We had to put our training into practice to restrain a guy who could have caused harm to other campers and to himself. Unfortunately he was sent home as we couldn't risk him causing harm go himself, staff or campers since he had already bitten 2 members of staff several times. On the whole though it's been a nice and easy session and I've even had chance to watch a new TV series as I have much more free time and got to tie dye my camp america t-shirt - it's been an exciting week!!!!!
Our next session starts again on Sunday but for now I'll enjoy the rest of the afternoon off and tomorrow!
