It's the second day of camp. Things have been pretty hectic. Last night I managed to get into bed just before midnight but struggled to wake up this morning and have a very sore throat. Probably from all the talking I do. At home I would usually drink lots of tea and suck on lots of orange strepsils, which usually don't do anything, but the nurse insisted, after I told him in conversation that I had a sore throat, to give me medication. I've had 2 different types of tablets, throat spray (actually amazing - it numbed my whole mouth and throat) and horrible tasting throat sweets. I think Americans love their medication for anything and everything but I wasn't really complaining after it no longer hurt to talk after the super throat spray.
Yesterday I started by running the morning stretch at 7.30, surprisingly popular and then later ran my sport option of ladder ball which was a huge success. I made it very competitive and had everyone of all abilities, whether they were able to stand of only had use of their arms and were in a wheelchair. For the rest of the day we floated around but a lot of the campers are happy to chat together and attend activities and many don't need much assistance.
This morning I really struggled to wake up, rolling out of bed at 7.20 for my morning stretch at 7.30. The late nights, early mornings and intense days are starting to catch up with me! I held my sport session today of netball (planned by the ms society, not me) but everyone was more interested in swimming or having their hair, nails and make up done (a beauty school came in to help out) and so nobody turned up! :( Though not so bad as I was able to start some of this blog post!
This afternoon I helped out at the boating and fishing activity. It turns out I'm pretty good at rowing so took some campers out on the lake! I loved it!! I was also taught how to fish by a camper who seems to be able to do everything and anything amazingly! I didn't catch anything but someone did catch a snapping turtle (they are the reason why we can't swim in the lake - they bite!)
I'm now sat in bed after finishing at 11pm tonight!! So happy!! We are clearly getting the hang of things more and are getting faster! But for now I'm off to make the most of the hours I can sleep!!!
