Thursday : fine
Once we had planned out the day we got ready and left the hotel. First stop was to a cemetery, but not just any cemetery, this was where James Douglas Morrison was buried. The cemetery was crazy, full of huge family plots and massive tomb stones. Also to set the slightly eery scene, were all the deciduous trees and crows. The grave itself was very different to in the doors movie, all the graffiti messages and flowers had been removed, the head sculpture was gone too. There was a tree and rock close by with nice and funny messages though and some people had thrown cigarettes and full bottles of alcohol on the grave for Jim to enjoy! Glad we went there, it's probably not on everyone's to do list when they come to Pari.
Next was Notre Dame cathedral, and that was just as crazy as the cemetery. It was a very gothic looking church, so much more than all the other Notre Dame Cathedrals we have seen on this trip. We went inside and it was very quiet and dark, the only light was from candles, except from the couple floods lights shinning up at some lead light windows, it was a very interesting place.
We then walked down to the Pantheon, we didn't go inside we just took a break on the steps for awhile.
We then made our way down to the catacombs, but we missed the last tour by 10mins! Thanks for the info lonely planet!
Never mind there was a Aussie pub near by, and they didn't do a bad job decking it out. We had a few drinks and nibbles, and left when it surprisingly started to get full.
We then walked back to the cathedral to see if it lights up at night like everything else here. Yes it certainly does, and it looked very nice.
We continued our night walk back to the louvre, but unfortunately the lights were not turned on. It would look good lit up that's for sure.
We walked home then, picking up some sweets to eat back at the hotel before bed.
