Wednesday : Fine
We where off to the Loire valley today. We had to catch the train from Epernay back to Paris then take the metro to Austerlitz station to take another train to Blois.
All went pretty well except that the metro stopped half way and ran replacement buses to Austerlitz station.
Once in Blois we had to wait in a park near to our hotel for an hour and a half before it opened. They must have a long lunch here too. It was alright, the park was nice and we got to eat our lunch and play cards.
When the hotel opened we lobbed our bags in the room, (which was surprisingly nice for what we were expecting) and went to the tourist information office. The lady at the office helped us out heaps, she told us where to hire bikes from, and gave us a bunch of cycling maps and info on the chateaux and wineries in the area.
Next we walked around the lovely town centre, there are lots of shops on cobblestone and nicely paved streets, seems to be a few more bar/pubs here too. We walked to the river to see the old bridge then walked trough the main square and up the nice stairs to the huge chateau that towers over the city. From up there the view is good you can see out over above all the rooftops.
We then went to do some shopping for dinner, and we found a reasonably price shop that sold bags of ice. So we rustled up some dinner and put the champagne on ice. While we waited for the bubbly to cool, we got stuck into some ciders, while playing cards and watching TV.
