Wednesday : fine
We were up at 5am, and missed the connecting train by 30 seconds. So we had to find a cab to take us to the St. Pancas international train station.
Thankfully we did find a cab and got to the station with no hiccups. No problems printing out a Internet tickets, or checking in. Then we were straight through customs, and on the train, very easy. I much prefer the train.
Within one hour we were through the English channel and into France, and with a total time of two hours twenty min we arrived in Paris and were on the streets. We couldn't believe how fast and easy it is. Love the train.
We found our hotel quick and easy too, it was only a short km walk from the station. We checked in and we are up in the roof again, It's a nice room with it's racked ceiling.
We then went across to grab some breakfast, hmm steak and chips for breakfast.
Then we walked down to the river and had a nice walk to the Louvre, we went inside today because there was no line. It was very interesting, there were lots of religious paintings and some were absolutely massive and very detailed. We got to see the mona lisa, and everyone says that when they go to see it, that it is smaller than what they thought it would of be. So that made us think it would be quite small, but we thought it was a lot bigger than we were expecting. We all loved the ancient Egyptian section, we got to see tombs, coffins and mummy's. There was also mummified animals like, cats, birds, fish and even a croc. We got to see sculpters from Greece the main one was Venus De Milo. The louvre took up a lot of the day.
After the louvre, we walked through the park heading towards Arc De Triomphe. It was a nice walk past all the fountains and ferris-wheel, and then through some markets. And they had loads of food stalls, so we picked up some grub and hot red wine.
The Arc didn't seem as crazy as it's made out to be either. It's pretty cool looking in the night yellow light.
Next on the list was the Eiffel Tower, and it wasn't too hard to find with it's yellow lighting and spinning flood light at the tip.
We hung out underneath the tower for awhile and had a much earned break. We then took the metro back to the hotel.
There were lots of people sitting outside having wine and beer, looking like they're having a good time. We will have to see about having a go at that tomorrow night.
