Friday : overcast
Time to checkout and go enjoy the last day in Paris. We planned to pickup some food, and eat in the park around the tower.
We needed to do a few things first, like go to an Internet cafe and print off our boarding passes. Go to an ATM then do some food shopping, after that we headed to the Eiffel tower.
It took an hour to walk, kind of wish we took the metro to the park we only got to spend an hour there. It was really nice, the tower is unreal. We ate cheese, bread and chips and drank wine on a bench while staring up at the huge tower. But we had to walk to where we needed to catch the airport shuttle bus, and that almost took an hour to walk to too.
Once on the relaxing bus, I fell asleep and woke up when we were close to the airport. The airport was small but new, and with a quick shuffle around of our bag items, to try and reduce the size of them we could just take our bags carry on. We were through checkin and customs pretty quick.
Then we had an hour wait before our departure. It was a bit silly the way they board these low cost airlines, it's like boarding a bus. There were no allocated seats so Kim, Grant and I all sat seperatly for the flight. The airline tries to flog so many items once up in the air too, it was very hard to read with the loud speaker above my head screaming out prices.
It was unorganized once we landed a at the shuttle bus stop too. No line was formed and people just pushing without a care.
We eventually got to Rome's centre and found our hotel pretty quick. Problem was that the hotel was locked up for the night, we missed the 11pm checkin time.
Grant went out trying to call from a pay phone and in doing so found a hotel down the road who could put us up for the night. It was a very nice hotel too, pity we are only going to be here for one night, and not much of a night either. It was after 2am when we got to bed, and we had to be up nice and early to try and beat some crowds.
