8/52. It's Saturday, at the end of week 8. I don't know how many are still reading the blogs but a lot of people seem to be checking out the photos.
I'm writing this blog from a local jimjibang. Just had my first Korean bath, in a steamy room full of hundreds of completely naked men and boys, bathing and washing each other. Homosexuality doesn't even enter the psyche of the average Korean male... so it's all very natural. In the communal areas, are a mixture of genders, taking part in what seems to be the second most popular Korean pastime (after hiking), which is doing absolutely nothing.
After a bad Monday, in which I doubted my abilities again... i recovered to have a reasonable 4 days. There is a certain stability right now.. a regular schedule of teaching... communication could always be improved but my mood has certainly improved. New heaters have been installed in every room, so the temperature inside the school changes from the very cold to something approaching jimjibang/kimchi levels. I doubt there will be a week between now and March when someone hasn't got a cold in the place. There are huge jars of citron peel to boil up for anyone with a sniffle.
I've been taking the odd glug of ginseng, often with honey - and I am glad to hear that Mum's package of ginseng has arrived, courtesy of Pete's collection from the main post office in Norwich.
I'm wired at home now and I am now fully skype enabled with back home. If you ever want to chat to me for free just download Skype www.skype.com
...and search for teacherphili. If I don't know who you are I am unlikely to accept your invitation to chat, however. So, email me first.
Anyway, TTFN, Aneyonghi kyeseyo.
