We were placed on Hinchinbrook Island today in the pouring rain and equipped with a small backpack each which supposedly contained all that we would require to sustain ourselves for the next 4 days as we are to hike 32km along the Thorsborne Trail, to the other end of the island. We leave Bowen today after having spent a quality 2.5 weeks catching up with family and friends. Today was our last day at Deepwater National Park. Dougie & I spent the morning in search of Deepwater Creek and were disappointed to find that it was a long, narrow, swamp-like creek with many low lying branches and snags, making it unsuitable for kayaking. Today was a magical day spent on the water kayaking at 1770. The kayaks were in at 9am and weren't packed up until 4pm - a beautiful day with the sun shining and the fish biting! The daytime temperatures are really warm whilst nights are a little cool - perfect for the campfire. We paddled and fished within Red Rock Creek.
