1 word summary of the day: Countdown!
After trying (and failing) to eat this huge breakfast burrito in Silverton this morning, Veda, Wonder and I got a ride back to the trailhead from a women who was staying at the hostel (but managed to catch Tom, Pam and James first as they just arrived at the hostel a day behind us - no sign of Hummingbird or Brandon yet, but they'll most likely arrive at the hostel today after we leave.
Started the hike around 10am, and it was cool to know that we only had 75 miles to go to Durango ! But the weather gods are still conspiring against us a little, and after no rain at all yesterday the Colorado monsoon came back in full force today :-(. There was the typical thunder, lightening, rain in the early afternoon, though luckily it cleared before we had to go over the high pass. But it's 6:45pm right now and another ferocious hail storm has started so we're all hiding in our tents praying that it won't last long. But the ground is covered in white hail - its quite something!
