1 word summary of the day: views
An interesting day today! First of all as I was packing up around 6:45am who do I hear coming down the trail but Cynthia! I had lost her a couple of days ago going over the Tenmile Range from Breckenridge to.Copper Mountain, but she had pulled a marathon 20 mile day the following day and had caught up with me.
The first 5 miles were nice and easy though the forest up to Tennessee Pass, and we encountered trail magic again at the pass (which is near hwy 24). Nothing like having a second breakfast of Mountain Dew and Sun Chips at 9am! Then it was an ongoing up up up for the afternoon with some great views looking back over the mountains.
I'm now camped at over 11000 ft and it sounds like a big storm is rolling in - I think that the Colorado monsoon season may have officially begun :-( which means that storms will happen most days, for a couple of hours, and it depends on where you are if you get hit or not. Hopefully tonight's is a little one, will let you know tomorrow!
