On Saturday morning I was determined to stay in bed for as long as I possibly could! I will train my body to sleep in damnit! I think I made it til 9:30…not bad really. And I reckon I could've probably stuck it out longer but I was afraid I'd miss the breakfast window at the pub downstairs & on that particular occasion food trumped sleep! When I did emerge downstairs all the staff were wearing all black with masks of some guys face…apparently it was the landlord's birthday that day so everyone was in celebration mode. This included everyone getting free merchandise i.e., a free English rugby t-shirt…OK! Cool!
Anyway there aint nothing like a full, cooked English breakfast the morning after a night on the town & oh boy did it hit the spot. I spent the rest of the morning very slowly & unproductively packing my bags to move out of the Pride of Paddington while chatting to a lovely girl who'd just arrived in London than day from Boston. Seeing as I'll be heading to Boston in just a matter of days I grilled her about all the best things to do & see while I'm there, & I told her all about London (practically a local now).
Then I transferred on over to the Hyatt, where Dad would be meeting me the following morning. The staff at the front desk looked truly puzzled to see a person in the lobby with a backpack. Guess that's not something they see often at that kind of establishment! :P The guy behind the desk begged me to help me with his bags because it pained him to see how much I was carrying, but I patiently explained that I'd been doing this for 4 months now so I would actually be just fine thank you. They were all very impressed. Not every day you can impress people just for being able to carry your own luggage; I was totally lapping that up :P
Anyway, I re-enacted my whole "The Holiday" scene with the flinging myself on the big, white bed thing! Never gets old :D But this kind of luxury is really much more fun when shared with another, so Carly came over in the evening for an evening of girly pampering & girly movies & girly chit chat & general girly girlyness! Hehe We put on facemasks, buffed our nails, polished our toes, & called for room service. Unfortunately we forgot to take the facemasks off before the room service came, but to his credit, the guy delivering the food didn't bat an eyelid. Looked me dead in the eye after I signed the docket, nodded politely, & said "Have a good evening Madam". I guess two girls in crazy looking facemasks is hardly the strangest thing they would see in their job!
So, now that we were all gorgeousified, we settled in to watch a couple of hilarious episodes of Cougar Town, & then Carly gave me a very enlightening lesson on how to rent movies off iTunes (seriously, did you know you can do that?? It's SO cool! And so easy! Wow, technology these days hey!). We downloaded Mamma Mia & proceeded to indulge our shared (& very embarrassing) love of ABBA by singing along all the way through! Such a good night! :D
