Sunday morning I had a bit of a sleep in on my hobo bed then when Kel & Eddie started to stir I got up & packed up my things to transfer stuff over to the hostel in Paddington. It was a bit of a drama getting over there because heaps of tube lines had sections closed for construction or maintenance work over the weekend so I had to keep changing to take the long way round. Plus I couldn't for the life of me work out why my Oyster card wasn't working (turns out even if you've put a 7 day pass on it, you still have to make the balance positive or 0 - mine was -30p) before it will work again…so simple yet so frustrating to figure out!). Fortunately the Pride of Paddington hostel is right outside Paddington station so it's super easy to find once you get there. I couldn't check in until 2:00PM so I left by bags there & went to meet Kel & Eddie at Southbank Centre.
We went for a wander around the open-air "Real Food" market & grabbed some yummy things for lunch. I tried homemade ice-cream in a hazelnut praline flavour which was to die for! Kel & Eddie shared a ham…or would you say pork…sandwich that was literally carved off a pig roasting over a spit! I decided to pass on that one haha After food we wandered around the Southbank Centre for a while; there were all sorts of art exhibitions & activities going on, and because it was such a beautiful, sunny day there were hundreds of people milling about. Children were playing in a fountain across the way, enjoying a rare chance to actually get into their bathers in London.
I had the most satisfying nap I've had in a long time back at the hostel that afternoon, the I had dinner downstairs in the Pride of Paddington pub. The room I'm staying in is a 6 bed female dorm but only half the beds were occupied that night & the other girls were super quiet so I got a great night's sleep - I'm moving up in the world from a cardboard box bed! Oh yeah! ;) hehe
