Thursday morning I said goodbye to Kerry, Taylor, & wee Noah before heading off to London. Kerry sent me off with a packed lunch (complete with a roll from her Dad's bakery down the road) & I had my last cuddle with Noah at the train station. I was feeling a bit better than the day before although still a little queasy, which is never fun on a 6 hour train ride. Fortunately it wasn't as bad the trip from Barcelona to Nice…
The train ride was beautiful with lots of gorgeous green countryside rolling past the window. There were big fields dotted with lots of white sheep & the occasional black one. The train went all the way down the east coast of the UK, through Edinburgh, so at several points along the way we got a glimpse of the ocean.
Unfortunately about half way through the trip things went a tad belly up…my computer battery ran out, my headphones died, my faithful Havvies broke (well…one of them did, which pretty much renders the pair useless), I began to feel sick, & the two kids across from me literally started doing the whole "Are we there yet? Are we there yet? Are we there yet?" thing. Without a book to read or music to listen to, the latter half of the trip felt a LOT longer…but I made it there in the end, & fortunately I am now a total pro at navigating the London tube system so I made my way from King's Cross to Lancaster Gate with no dramas whatsoever.
Dad was over in London on business again so I got to stay with him at his hotel for my first night back in London & it was just lovely. I arrived at the Lancaster London mid-afternoon while he was still out hard at work attending meetings & it was a lot like the scene from The Holiday, where Kate Winslet's character runs & flings herself on the big, white, fluffy bed haha I was very excited :D I had a bath, put on one of the fluffy, white towel robes & curled up in bed to watch Friends & Glee re-runs on the TV with room service. A little taste of luxury - how delightful! :) Dad arrived back a the hotel later in the evening, by which time I was already half asleep, but it was so nice to see him after so many weeks away from home…
