Hey,
SO, I am taking a little break from studying (ie. procrastinating), so I thought I would answer some questions/ respond to some comments that I have recieved over the past couple months...yup...the procrastinating has reached a new low...
My comments on:
cane toads: are an invasive species. Not so much of a problem here as compared to the northern territories. That's one of the main reasons we used them as a model species in many of our physiology labs.
Footie: in the northern territories footie refers to rugby, here it refers to...footie...an actual sport in itself. I would say its is similar to football in the states, except a lot faster and the guys are much better looking.
Haviannas: are sandals, they are Brazilian, not Australian, but popular nonetheless.
Melbourne Cup: yes, I would venture that it is very similiar to the Kentucky Derby, but since I have never been, I can't say for sure. However, I think it may even be a little more popular here, basically everyone goes to at least one day of the races (the races are a whole week long, with the biggest day on Tuesday). I heard on the news that people bet nearly 200 million dollars during the Melbourne Cup...
School in comparison to the US: not as intense as GAC, but I shouldn't say too much more since I haven't gotten all of my grades yet.
Do they have more sheep than people here?: possibly.
Alright, I probably should get back to it.
