Hey there!
I've officially completed my first week at the University. The week was pretty uneventful except for the whole scabies outbreak thing. I really enjoy all of my classes. I am taking Animal Physiology, Pathology, Sport and Education in Australian Society and From Plato to Einstien: A History of the Cosmos. The way they structure class here is very different than at Gustavus, it's probably due to the sheer size of the University. Most classes have two lectures a week and then one tutorial or practical. A tutorial is a discussion class and then the pracitical is a lab. I only have one tutorial (for From Plato to Einstein), and one prac (for Animal Physiology). I only have Sport and Educacation one day a week for an hour and a half which is really weird, but very nice, and all my other classes I have two lectures a week. The best thing about my schedule is that I only have one class before 11 o'clock one day a week which is amazing. I don't even need to set an alarm clock. I guess it's about time though since at GAC I've had an 8 o'clock at least three times a week every semester...
I really enjoy my pathology course...it is pretty intense, but it is very interesting. The course is really reconfirming my interest in the medical side of science. The vocabulary is going to take awhile to get used to, but with time I'm sure I will get used to it. I'm really glad I am taking the sport and education class since we get to go on field trips. THe one I am most looking forward to is the trip to the beach to watch a pro surfing competition...we also get a surf lesson while we are there is well. I'll make sure to write about all my wipeouts and such after the trip.
The more time I spend in Melbourne the more I fall in love with it. The city is so diverse and there is always something to do. I have decided that where ever I live in the future needs to have a farmers market. The Queen Vic market is just amazing. I bought a ton of food there this morning for under 5 dollars...and it all is so tasty. The only things that is expensive there are bananas which is a shame since they are one of my favs, but there are so many other foods here, I think that I can live without them for a couple months.
I am hoping that my parasite will leave me soon, but I think that I may need a couple treatments since I am still getting new bumps. It's really frustrating, but I know that in a couple weeks that it's going to be something that I will be laughing about.
I took some new pics of the apartment, I'll be sure to replace the old ones once I upload the pics onto the computer.
