Hey there!
Well, I guess its about time for the weekly scabies report, since evidently that's the only way these blogs can start out. The bites came back once again after I had taken all of the prescription medicine, so I had to go back to the doctor this week and get a higher dosage. The doctor is still pretty certain that the scabies are gone...I am just continuing to have an allergic response, so hopefully the prescription will take care of it.
In other news, the Melbourne Aquarium and the Rugby game were alot of fun. I hope you got a chance to look at the pictures. I feel kind of bad when I look through the pics because I feel like when I am there I am taking/am in a lot of pictures but its mostly because a lot of the other people I go with take most of the pics. We are trying to set up a site where we can share all of our pics, so once I get some of theirs, then I will post them on my site. I was surpised with how large the Melbourne aquarium was, from the outside it looks like a really small building, but on the inside it is massive. I thought the coolest exhibit was the jelly exhibit...there were some really cool flourescent ones, and some really really tiny ones. The sting rays (or maybe they were skates...I don't think I can tell the difference) were pretty cool too...there were some absolutely massive ones, but don't worry, as we passed I covered my heart so they wouldn't go all Steve Irwin on me.
The rugby game was a blast. The atmosphere was incredible...the Aussies really get into their rugby. We went to the Melbourne Storm vs. Brisbane Broncos at the Olympic Park, and the Storm completely bucked the Broncos (pretty clever...I know). The game is kind of like football, but not really. It's a lot faster paced and there aren't any fat guys. I'd say the players are a lot tougher too...it was interesting, if someone was hurt on the field all the other players would keep on playing as he was being taken care of. The best part was the incredibly drunk guy sitting a couple seats down from us...they are always fun.
For our weekly dinner night out we went to an amazing Thai restaurant downtown for my roommate's birthday. I had the best pad thai I think I have ever had in my life. The restaurant was really cute too. Monica got a slice of bday cake which she shared with everyone and it too was delicious.
On a sadder note, I wasn't able to go on the indigenous field trip this weekend. Instead, I am stuck here writing a paper....which I kinda procrastinated doing all week...my bad (but in my defense, I procrastinated by listening to all my lectures online...I'm not even joking). But I am still going to Philips Island on Sunday.
So time for funny stories. There were a couple this week. Apparently this week at U Melb it is FROC week (don't ask what it means because I have no clue). And during this week people do all kinds of crazy stuff...on Monday some people came to my philosophy lecture dressed as cavemen, and then I saw some superheroes in the Union...but what I wasn't expecting was the 25 completely nude girls and guys that came into the library. It put GAC's cross country shenanigans during midnight express to shame...these people were completely wasted (as in beer still in hand) and they just ambled around the library like they had clothes on. It was the weirdest experience. Another not so funny, but embarrassing story is that as I was walking to my pathology lecture (which is my favorite class in the world) I noticed that everone in my lecture was walking down (and not up) the stairs. I thought that was kind of weird and thought that maybe lecture was cancelled...and then I realized that class was at 11...not 12...my bad. In my defense, I was in the library studying for pathology during that time and I only got confused because sometimes we have class at 11 and sometimes at 12. Moral of the story...it's a good thing that lectures are recorded and downloadable from the internet.
Alright, I really need to stop procrastinating and finish my paper. I hope that everyone has a great week!
