Hey There,
Just finished a paper, so I thought I would write a blog while I ride the post paper written natural high...haha. Well, not too much has happened since I last wrote.
We had our last IES dinner on Friday night. We went bolling at this pretty cool bowling alley in Melbourne Central. I got the lowest score...by far. I don't even really want to type my score... it was that bad. Lets, just say it was my age times 5, divided by 3, plus 5. But its okay, we all can't be good at everything, so I guess it is humbling to have a fault...haha, just kidding. Im just trying to make myself feel better. So after my bowling defeat we went to this Greek restaurant downtown. It was delicious. Liz and Luke always pick out the best restaurants. We had pita with about 5 dips to start, and then had an array of different types of Greek meat, then Greek salad and then some baklava. Yum.
On Sunday, Siobhan, Karri, Kristen and I went to St. Kilda to go to this outdoor market type thing. However it was a big disappointment because A). it was raining, cold and windy and B). There was no market to be found (probably due to the weather). But we still got to see a little bit of St. Kilda and do a little shopping.
TOday was Melbourne Cup Day which is one of the biggest days in spring in all of Australia...supposedly, the whole nation stops to watch the race, so it's kind of a big deal. Unfortunately I was swamped with studying and my paper to go to the races all day, but Karri and I met up with Alycia, Siobhan and Kristen at the race park to watch the big race. IT was a blast. People really go all out for it...it was such a good people watching event. Since I decided to go at the last minute I didn't get a chance to get a hat or hair thingy which was too bad because every girl there had one. They kind of look ridiculous in any other context but at the races, but when everyone is wearing one they are pretty sweet looking. I think I am going to start a new fashion statement with the huge hair feather clip when I get back in the states. I'm not sure who won the big race, but I think the horse was from New Zealand.
So, other than that I haven't been doing anything fun...just studying and writing papers. Alright, my post paper finished high is gone and now I am tired, so I think I am going to hit the bed.
Hope everyone is having a good week!
Leah
