We have been quite busy recently and its also been Lee's 21st birthday. Last weekend we went to visit friends of Lynz's family, Ronny and Janet. They live about 1 hour outside of Sydney and their home is surrounded by countryside. It was nice to see a different side to Sydney, instead of high buildings, bridges and opera houses!! They moved to Australia 28 years ago but it was good to hear the Yorkshire accent was still there! On the Saturday night we went for a few drinks and met the daughters and their partners and some of Ron and Janets friends. Everybody made us feel very welcome and we had a great night. On the Sunday we visited a little town called Kiama and Fitzroy Falls. It was nice to get out of the city for the weekend and we appreciate been shown a different side to Australia. It whet the appetite for when we start travelling again.
For Lee's 21st birthday we did quite abit. First on the list was to do the Sydney Harbour Bridge climb, which is a must for any tourist visiting Sydney. The climb wasn't particularly hard apart from one or two tight squeezes here and there. Once we reached the summit, the views of the city and harbour were unbelievable. Compared to some of the heights we've been at on this trip, being on the top of arch wasn't scary, however when we walked across the mesh with hundreds of cars driving below, that was quite an experience! Altogether the walk to the top and back down again took about 2 hours, but that would of been twice as long if we had our camera with us, but unfortunately you weren't allowed to take anything up there with you, incase you dropped it...makes sense really.
On the evening we went for a meal at the top of the Sydney Tower. This is the tallest building in Sydney and we were in a restaurant that revolved 360 degrees, so you get to see every corner of the city as you eat. It was a clear night and the city lights looked gorgeous. At first it was a bit weird sat at the window eating while we were moving but after a little while you just got used to it. Asides all this the food was top notch and it was an all you can eat buffet!!
On Thursday we visited the Sydney Aquarium and Sydney Wildlife World. It was crazy being under water and having loads of Sharks and Stingrays swimming around you. In the Wildlife World the highlights were definately the Koala Bears and the Wallabies. You could sit and watch the Wallabies hopping about all day and the Koala Bears were very cute. Some of the spiders in there were huge and we also got to see the world most dangerous spider. Its a good job its winter over here at the moment, because in the summer, its common for some big spiders to invade your house!
Last night to complete the birthday celebrations we went to see Guns n' Roses at the Acer Arena. It was a sell out and they did not dissapoint. For people to say that they are no where near as good as they used to be, makes me wonder just how good they were in their hay day, because they were awesome last night!
All the pictures have been uploaded. Back to work tomorrow!
