From Cooloangatta we headed to a new state, New South Wales. Before we left we got the chance to visit the point where the two states crossed just to say we had been in both states at the same time! We then went on to Byron Bay, a place that we had heard and read alot about. From our first look we weren't disappointed, Byron is a small town that is full of character and charm and very laid back. We had read that the locals have tried to keep it this way by opposing such big companies as McDonalds. It was a nice change of pace for us and we just enjoyed chilling here for a few days.
We had decided to go on a sea kakyak trip as it promised dolphin and whale sightings. Although the trip was hard work on our arms we did get to see dolphins and whales. The dolphins were even swimming so close to our kayaks, it was pretty amazing to be up close to them, it was worth all the rowing. We stopped during the trip to have morning tea and got chance to see a whale out in the ocean. We took our kayaks out closer to get a better look. We are so amazed that we have been able to experience such wildlife so close, we feel very lucky.
