While we were living in Sydney we never got the chance to visit the Hunter Valley and with me working with and learning about so many wines from this region i didn't want to go without seeing it all. We arrived on the evening after a bit of a drive from Port Maquarie so we didn't get chance to do much except a bit of reading about all the vineyards. The next morning we set off early to drive round the valley. I had decided not to do a scheduled tour as we were short of time and felt we could see just as much driving ourselves. We visited the hunter valley gardens, bluetongue brewery, the cheese and chocolate shops and de bortoli winery. We got to see and taste plenty and take away some food and wine to have later. We were glad we got chance to visit before we left australia as it was a nice pituresque place and we had a ggod day.
