Well here i am back in new zealand! my home away from home, and i can't believe it is thursday night here! that is absolotely crazy how fast time has gone this week.... we got in on sunday afternoon and pretty much this week has been really relaxed sharing stories with staff and the other team that went to Vanuatu (an island nation in the south pacific)... we have been doing some good sun bathing and swimming in the creek... its been amazing to take a little bit of a break after being in the craziness of india for 2 months, and taking a break before i start up school again and get lost in the whirlwind that comes with all of that.... so i've been enjoying this week... new zealand is different than india, i'll just start off by saying that... ha its quiet here, almost too quiet! ha actually its really nice, i've been on some long walks this week and haven't seen another soul, quite different from india where you're lucky to go on a walk and not almost get run over by a car or rickshaw! one of the biggest things that has struck me is how small i am! i was, no joke, above average size in India, when i stepped off the plane into new zealand i seriously felt so small and puny... it feels like new zealand is some sort of land of giants (i think that people are sort of bigger than normal here tho too)... tommorow everyone here is going jet boating on the ocean i think up in the Bay of Islands... i'm excited first of all for more sun time (i'm trying to soak it in, so i can gloat to all of you at home, i'm sorry, it just has to be done) and second of all because jet boating looks awesome.... i would describe it as a really big jetski/ hoverboat hybrid... pretty much you like strap into this boat and then they just rip it up and spin around and go really fast and stuff! sounds exciting... being in india has definately opened my eyes to thing and really notice differences between ways of life and cultures and needs and wants and all sorts of different things... i really think that i've been thinking about things a little differently this week, maybe its just the initial "culture shock" of being back here but i think that my experience has changed me in some ways that i will never forget... its good, not many people get that chance to see how other people live and survive so i feel fortunate for that.... man i think i'm having writers block, which is bothersome... i go through every week like "oh man i gotta write about that in my blog" then it comes time for me to actually write and i never remember what the heck i wanted to write about! oh well i mean i could talk about the heat here more or the great tan i'm building up but that would just get boring probably! oh thats right i didn't even talk about bangkok or my trip back, well last friday we spent the day hanging around delhi which was great, in the morning we went to an american diner for breakfast which was actually really good even for being in India... then we went all over the city, making stops by the india gate and the gandhi museum, which was really really cool... gandhi was an amazing guy.. he did some really really good things for that country and he stuck to his guns no matter what, it was really interesting for sure... later that day we went to a big market area and got food and ate subway (first time in 5 months) i had a chicken meatball sub, which tasted delicious... then we boarded our plane for our long journey home... we got into bangkok at about 3 in the morning so we slept on the floor of the airport for a few hours grabed some breakfast then went out to hang out in bangkok... what an awesome city bangkok is! its really really cool, and we went to a ridiculous market, it was like a 36 acre maze it was nuts! there was so much stuff there it was crazy... going from india to thailand was quite the switch as well, tehy are completely different... thailand is a breathe of fresh air, no one staring at you all the time, no one haggling you or jeering you... it was really really nice, plus bangkok was a very very modern and clean city... the tourists in bangkok are a completely different type of tourist than the ones in india... it was interesting to see, the tourists and people there are much more "big city" and into fasion and all that sort of stuff... the people going through india are more of the "hippie" type searching for the meaning of life or enlightenment... it was weird to see the stark contrast... but nontheless bangkok was great, and we got to go to hard rock for lunch and had a real bacon cheeseburger (also first in 5 months)... kiwis make burgers, but they definately are not american bacon cheeseburgers (which is my favorite) so it was amazing... it was a good day... then we got on another plane headed for Auckland, an 11 hour journey... i watched "into the wild" on the plane, it was a good movie, thought provoking for sure, probably not the best for young children but for me it made me think about things in my life, and any movie that does that is good... we got to new zealand without a hitch, and that pretty much brings me to the start of my blog, and probably by now this is getting a little rambly and boring! but hang in there, this is my second to last blog (probably) so only one more after this, then you can all talk to me in person and not have to read a text that you think is written by me... who knows i could of payed off one of my friends here to write these for me! you would never know... i leave it at that, a mystery for you all... well i hope all is well and that you're all staying warm go wild Korey
